Solstice Minerals (ASX: SLS) has reported strong new gold intercepts in four-metre composite samples from drilling at the advanced Bluetooth prospect within its Yarri project in Western Australia.

The Phase II reverse circulation (RC) campaign sought to build on multiple intercepts from the first round of drilling in widely spaced historical drill holes at Bluetooth.

Solstice considers all intercepts to be close to true width, further defining shallow east-dipping zones of mineralisation associated with oxidised folded chert, ironstone and quartz veining extending over at least 800m of strike.

Commercial potential

Best near-surface hits were 20m at 2.18 grams per tonne gold from 28m, 20m at 2.01g/t gold from 20m including 4m at 6.18g/t gold from 28m and 16m at 2.13g/t gold from 48m.

Chief executive officer Nick Castleden said the results reinforce the commercial potential of Bluetooth’s extensive outcropping gold system.

“This prospect is quickly taking shape and this latest campaign has further defined consistent broad zones of near-surface oxide gold mineralisation,” he said.

‘Favourable geometry’

“The geometry looks favourable for potential open-pit extraction,” Mr Castleden added.

“We are now planning further drilling to test down plunge on the fold to the north as well as specific tests for underlying fresh rock mineralisation.”

The company intends to increase drill density to allow for initial mineral resource estimation work in the near future and will plan specific drill tests for underlying fresh-rock mineralisation.

Follow-up drilling

The latest drilling results come hard on the heels of a significant RC intercept at the Edjudina Range prospect, also within the Yarri project and about 24 kilometres from Bluetooth on the same geological corridor.

Solstice is now preparing follow-up campaigns at Bluetooth and Edjudina Range while it awaits assays from initial exploration at Yarri’s third prospect at Statesman Well.

All three prospects are located close to haul roads in the active and infrastructure-rich Yarri area of the Eastern Goldfields, where Solstice controls over 1,650 sq km of highly prospective geology.
